#761) LUIS CASTILLO

Luis Castillo like so many infielders was born in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic. That city has been the start of quite a few superb major leaguers. Luis came to the New York Mets in a trade from the Minnesota Twins on July 30, 2007. He was dealt for a couple minor league players, Dustin Martin and Drew Butera. The former gold glover, and MLB All-Star struggled in the final season at Shea Stadium. Injury played a pretty big role in that though and he was able to rebound with a nice year in the new Citi Field during 2009.

Luis Castillo signed his card from this set for me in Cincinnati while the Mets opened the season there against the Reds on April 7, 2009.
